Weekend Away and Tournament

Happy Mothers Day to me! We got to have a little getaway to West Covina for Justin's softball team.
Getting ready to play, they were 0-4 this time (last time they took the championship) bummer!
Justin had some great plays though,
and his running has really improved over the last few years of me making fun of his fred flinstone running style,
and he made it to first on a really close call.
Nice play Babe!

First Haircut

"I don't know about this guys? Are you sure I need a haircut?"

Yes, I'm sure, I'm not so into your little mullet curls at the back of your head.

"Can we buzz my tongue next?"

Logan's first bandaid!

It's really hard to see, you try taking a picture of a baby in a bouncer with a hurt finger!! So sad :(

The many faces of Brooklyn

I was able to go to Nicole's and watch Brooklyn for the day while she took Kelsey to Disneyland. So we had a photo shoot. That girl knows how to give some face!

Easter 2011

Such a happy happy boy! We went down to make the rounds of family in LA and were able to go to church and have a photo op with the cousins.

Logan didn't get to crawl around and find easter eggs this year (the hours were running away from us) but he did get to play with them in the grass during the photos. Sorry Kels, you were too busy stuffing your face with Peeps to get a good photo of you.

Here's our little family, can you believe how big Logan is getting now?!?!?!

Did you ever think you'd see the day?

Aww, he looks so good in a tie and dress shirt, now how can I convince him to do this more often? ;)

Avon Walk

Have I mentioned to you all that coming this Sept. I'll be participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer? I haven't? Well here's some info for you. In two days I'll be walking a total of 39 miles that winds through Santa Barbara. But before I ever do that I must raise $1800.00 in donations, will you help me raise the money? If you'd like to help please click the big pink button above and it will take you to my personal Avon page. I am helping with this worthy cause so that I never have to come home and give my children the news that "Mommy has cancer", please help me eradicate this awful disease. All the donations stay here locally so we are helping our friends and neighbors.

Movin' and a Shakin'

Hi, I'm Logan, I can't keep still anymore. My mom has this super awesome camera that she doesn't know how to use and because I wont stop moving only 1 out of every 100 pictures is crisp. This is me taking a breather from trying to eat decorative rocks.
And here I am doing my favorite thing in the world, opening and closing cabinets. Seriously does life get any better?
DAD!!!! Don't take a picture of my butt!!!! (is there anything cuter than naked baby butts?---Mom) This is my other favorite thing, baths, I could splash in the water forever. Mom can't wait until it's warm outside so she can fill up my little baby pool, I'm so excited too!

Cute little cousins

Look how well they play together. Actually Kelsey was very unhappy that Logan was playing with her kitchen because he wasn't doing it right. Not said in so many words, but trust me that's what was going on.
We were getting ready for church, Logan was the easy one to dress. Kelsey would have rather kept playing.

I can sit now!!!

Look at me! I'm pro-status sitter!!! It only took me 6 months but that's because I love my swing so much and would rather be held than play by myself. I also love tummy time and didn't cry like most babies do.

Watch out or i'll spit up on you when you're not looking!!!!

I've been so neglectful...

Sorry sis, (since you are probably the only one that reads this). Here are some updates for you:

This goes back to Sept of last year, I just never posted these!

Logan and William Harris: Aren't they soooo cute! Little cousins, or more specifically... hold on I figured this out once already... so this little guy is Logan's grandma's first cousins grandson. So I think that makes them third cousins, or 1st cousins twice removed, or 2nd cousins once removed... I'm not really sure to be honest. Whatever, my mom was cousins with this guys grandma, i'm cousins with his dad and Logan and William are related somewhere along the way.
I love how smiley he was the whole time they were visiting, Logan has such a stunned look doesn't he?

Aunt Karen really wanted to pretend she had two babies, she's more daring than I am. When i found out I was pregnant the first question I asked was "There's only one right?", Mom I don't know how you did it!

Just had to show this pic off.

This is his naughty look, man does this kid have a sense of humor. He is constantly trying to get me to laugh or mimic him. His new thing is tilting to one side when I'm trying to feed him and he wont go back upright until I do the same thing, then he takes a bite and we start the whole process over again. Sometimes he forgets his game and we get through a whole meal in no time, but more often than not he remembers halfway through a bowl of puree that mealtime is more fun if we make mommy do silly things.

Kitchen Crafts

I did this recipe holder a while back but totally forgot to show it off. I can't take credit for this idea, I saw one at my friend Jill's house in LA. Super simple to make. Just find some random piece of metal (I found mine hiding behind my grandma's bread box), cover with spray adhesive (or whatever kind of glue you like), press on some scrapbook paper then trim around the edges. Presto! The magnets are Martha Stewart scrapbook stickers that I stuck onto magnetic sheets (can find at craft stores or at Staples they have smaller ones that you can stick a business card to) then trimmed with an exacto knife. The magnets aren't very strong and I'd love to redo them with something that is a little stronger, but I made so many that I just use 4-5 depending on the recipe card I'm using. The holder was the hardest thing to find. I got mine at Homegoods, unfortunately I didn't realize until I got it home that one of the arms was missing, but I used a picture hanging hook in it's place (it does it's job). I love it because now I don't have to keep touching my cards while I'm cooking and making them nasty.

First custom order!

So this week is the official start of my business taking off. I got two orders this week, one for the straight tutu's and onesies on my site (from a friend of a friend) and another custom order from a lady at my church. She just would not accept that I haven't done any cute girlie onesies and challenged me to come up with something cute for the tutu's she picked out. This was not an easy task (one reason I like the ties is that it's all straight lines, most girlie things like flowers and butterflies are all curved edges). So, baby went down for a nap and I got to problem solving. First I tried to sew butterflies with the wrong side of the fabric out so the edges would be clean (problem: i have no idea what i'm doing and they looked AWFUL!!!) Second I tried to overcast the edges so that there wouldn't be any fraying when washed (problem: they are so flippin small that my presser foot literally took over the entire butterfly so that i could no longer see what i was doing) Lastly I decided that a simple zigzag stitch would be the most forgiving and that I would just cut out the butterflies after stitching (They finally turned out!!) I might not have had so many issues if I was doing a straight appliquéd piece but I was obsessed with figuring out how to make them 3 dimensional. All in all I'm pretty happy with how they turned out and I'm stoked that my free time is starting to pay off.
